Bishop Flaget Trail (8/20 – 8/22) 

Join us August 20th-22nd to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Bishop Flaget Trail. This year we return to the site of  the first Flaget Trail, St. Thomas Church, located at 870 St. Thomas Ln, Bardstown, KY 40064. 

We will visit St. Thomas Church, Bishop Flaget's Log Cabin, St. Joseph Proto Cathedral, and St. Monica Church in  Bardstown. After the trail on Saturday, an afternoon of fun activities, as well as a service project, are planned for those  who choose to participate. Day hikers should arrive by 8:30am, and the hike portion will be finished around 1:15 PM.  (Please plan accordingly.)

We will depart St. Albert at 5:30 PM on Friday, August 20th. Will attend the Sunday Field Mass and final assembly on  Sunday morning and plan to return to St. Albert by 11:00 AM.

August Camp Out (5/21-5/23): Barren River Lake 

Our August Camp Out will be hosted by the Daunhauer's at their lake house on Barren River Lake, located at 388 Barren  River Hills Rd, Scottsville, KY 42164. 

We will be departing from St. Albert no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, August 27th. Please arrive early to load gear and  passengers. Please bring a proper-fitting Personal Flotation Device (PFD) if you have one available. 

We will return approximately 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 29th.

Virtual Patrol Leaders’ Council (5/19)

This month’s PLC will once again be held via Zoom at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 19. This is an important meeting to  plan upcoming Troop outings and events. May Camp Out at Spring Mill State Park, IN (5/21-5/23)

For our May Camp Out, we will be camping at Spring Mill State Park, located at 3333 IN-60 E, Mitchell, IN 47446. 

Due to camp staff/maintenance shortages, bike rentals are not available at this time, so we will not be mountain biking  on this camp out. In addition to working on advancements with the younger Scouts, our activities will include a nature  hike, a visit to the Virgil "Gus" Grissom Memorial, and a Sunday church service in the Pioneer Village. There may be an  opportunity to go fishing, so bring your fishing gear if you wish to do so. 

Cost is $20 per person. Cash is preferred. There is a $9 parking fee, so adults driving on this camp out will only pay $10 to the Troop. 

We will be departing St. Albert at 5:30 PM on Friday 5/21 and plan to return by 11:00 AM on Sunday 5/23. Please RSVP via the SignUpGenius link below:

Annual Troop BSA Swim Test (5/26) 

We will conduct the annual Troop Swim Test on Wednesday, May 26 at 6:30 at the McQuillen residence, located at 7807  Avenue of the Woods, Louisville, KY 40241. Hot dogs and chips will be served. Rain date will be Wednesday, June 6. 

Those taking a water merit badge at Summer Camp or wishing to participate in any water activities with the Troop over  the course of the next 12 months will first need to have completed the BSA swimmer’s test. This includes any siblings or  parents who anticipate joining us in any of those activities. 

BSA SWIMMER’S TEST: 

Jump feet-first into water over the head in depth, level off, and begin swimming. Swim 75 yards in a strong manner  using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy  resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be swum continuously and include at least one sharp turn. After completing the  swim, rest by floating. 

Summer Camp Health Forms Due 

We need to collect the full BSA Health Form (Parts A, B, & C) for all Scouts and adult leaders who will be attending camp.  Please include a copy of the front and back of each camper’s health insurance card. Please bring the completed form to  the May 24th or June 7th troop meeting, or email to Mark Hiland.

The Troop has reserved our Summer Camp week at Camp Crooked Creek for June 13-19. Total early discount fee is  $305. The Council has extended the Early Bird due date! Deposits and merit badge session preferences are now due  by the 3/22 Troop Meeting. Balance of fee will be due in April. Adults interested in camping, please email Mark Hiland. Easter Vigil (4/3) 

Once again, Troop 327 will be lighting and maintaining the Easter Vigil fire, and the Scouts will have the opportunity to  earn service hours. We are to have a rolling fire going by 8:15 PM on Saturday, April 3rd.  Please wear your full Class A field uniform and meet in the front of Church by 7:30 PM.

Welcome Webelos!

At our last meeting, we welcomed our Webelos II guests and their parents from Pack 327 and worked with them on tying some knots. We also tried a new game – HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS! We look forward to officially welcoming them all as new members of Troop 327 very soon!
