Another Troop 327 Wood Badger!

Congratulations to Scoutmaster Chris Kappesser on earning his Wood Badge! Mr. Kappesser received his Wood Badge beads, neckerchief and woggle at last Monday’s meeting, marking the successful completion of his Wood Badge training.

Wood Badge is the most advanced adult leader training available. A Scouter participating in Wood Badge has the opportunity to understand Scouting as a family of interrelated, values-based programs providing age-appropriate activities for youth. It recognizes contemporary leadership concepts and will help the participant discover how they are relevant to the Scouting movement and apply the skills learned as a member of a successful working team.

Wood Badge training is available to ANY registered adult leader. You do NOT have to be an “experienced” Scouter or expert in Scoutcraft to attend. As any of us fellow Wood Badgers would tell you, Wood Badge training is fun, very worthwile, and applicable to your everyday life outside of Scouting, even at home or work.

If you are interested in finding out more about Wood Badge, please reach out to Mr. Hiland or Mr. Kappesser.

James G. Eagle Scout Project (8/29 - 8/30)

James G. is seeking volunteers from the troop to assist with the upcoming Eagle Scout project at St. Albert. The project will involve creating raised flower beds that will be used by the preschool to teach students about plants and flowers, and how they grow.

The project is planned for Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 (if necessary). Scouts should plan to arrive promptly at 9 a.m., and work will continue until approximately 2 p.m. Lunch will be served, but all scouts should bring water bottles.

Waterway Cleanup (8/31)

We will be meeting at Hounz Lane Park during our regular meeting time on Monday, August 31, to continue our pledge to keep that portion of Goose Creek clean.  This service project will take the place of our regular Monday meeting.  The hours will count as ecological service hours for anyone who participates.  Please bring gloves.
